<p>This course is aimed at researchers across basic, clinical, epidemiological, and genetic fields of atherosclerosis, offering participants a comprehensive understanding of the disease.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The course brings together students and leading researchers from Denmark and abroad to deliver lectures and foster discussions, thereby strengthening the atherosclerosis research community. Unlike traditional conferences, this course is designed as a learning experience, where invited experts serve as “lecturers” rather than “speakers.” They are encouraged to teach key aspects of atherosclerosis, going beyond merely presenting their cutting-edge research. This makes the course an essential platform for early-career researchers entering the field, as well as for more experienced researchers seeking to broaden their understanding beyond their specific focus areas. Additionally, the course provides a unique opportunity to network with peers from Denmark and abroad, as well as to engage with top experts in the field, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Format</strong></h3>
<p>A mix of lectures, student presentations, group work, poster presentations and networking activities.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Learning outcomes&nbsp;</strong></h3>
<p>Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:&nbsp;</p><ul> 	<li>Discuss the development of the atherosclerotic lesion at the cellular and molecular level&nbsp;</li> 	<li>Relate risk factors to the pathology of atherosclerosis&nbsp;</li> 	<li>Describe options for risk prediction, prevention, and treatment&nbsp;</li> 	<li>Discuss the influence of genetic factors on the development of atherosclerosis&nbsp;</li> 	<li>Motivate the use of in vitro- and in vivo models to study atherosclerosis and apply them to a given project&nbsp;</li> 	<li>Identify ways to enhance atherosclerosis research quality through collaboration&nbsp;</li> </ul><h3><strong>Who can attend?</strong></h3>
<p class="p1">This event is designed as a PhD course but is open to participants at all career stages who are involved in, or planning to engage in, atherosclerosis research. Eligible attendees include PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, research-year students, master’s students, and senior researchers conducting work in basic, translational, clinical, genetic, or epidemiological aspects of atherosclerosis.</p>

<p>Participation will give 2 ECTS points (at SDU pre-approved - at other universities application for ECTS is necessary).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Please note that you are not guaranteed a seat at the event if you do not&nbsp;<strong>meet the target group requirements</strong>. Priority is given to early career researchers (PhD-students and Postdocs) employed at&nbsp;<strong>Danish research and healthcare institutions</strong>&nbsp;or in life science industry. A number of seats may be reserved for participants from abroad. If the event is overbooked, DCAcademy reserves the right to select participants based on the defined requirements.</p>
<h3><strong>No-show fee</strong></h3>
<p>Please note that the DCAcademy will charge a no-show fee of&nbsp;<strong>2000 DKK</strong>&nbsp;if you do not show up and have not unregistered prior to start.</p>
