									<p>We will bring together a range of experts in the comparative cardiology field, spanning from basic science, evolution, development and anatomy to potential uses in human medicine. We hope that this interdisciplinary approach will bring lively discussion on the latest knowledge.</p>
<p>The symposium is sponsored by the Carlsberg Foundation in collaboration with the Danish Cardiovascular Academy.</p>
<h3><strong>The symposium consists of sessions addressing these topics:</strong></h3><ul> 	<li>Evolution – "An introductory session that combines the evolution of the vertebrate heart with perspectives from human and veterinary medicine and the possibilities of using zoo animals and museum specimens in comparative research"</li> 	<li>Anatomy - "Comparative cardiac anatomy from animals to humans"</li> 	<li>Contractile machinery in the myocardium – “Unravelling the mysteries of the myocardium"</li> 	<li>Regeneration and transplantation - "Understanding cardiac regeneration and limitations in xenotransplantation"</li> 	<li>Electrophysiology - "Differences in the electrical conduction of the vertebrate heart and how to assess it"</li> 	<li>Haemodynamic - "Haemodynamic adaptations to meet varying physiological demands in small and large animals"</li> 	<li>Adaption to special environments - "Cardiac and circulatory adaptations to special and extreme environments."</li> </ul><p>There will be plenty of room for networking during the symposium.
