Course: Basal Metabolism & Molecular Mechanisms in Diabetes
The aim of the course is an introduction to basal metabolism, the pathophysiology of diabetes and its complications at the molecular level as a basis for the diagnosis and the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes.

The Danish Diabetes Academy and the Danish Cardiovascular Academy invite early stage researchers to participate in a three-day course focusing on both basal research and treatment needs. The aim of the course is an introduction to basal metabolism, the pathophysiology of diabetes and its complications at the molecular level as a basis for the diagnosis and the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes.
Basic skills, approaches and challenges in basal as well as clinical research are addressed and presentations will be given within the following areas:
- Type 1 Diabetes (basal and clinical part)
- Type 2 Diabetes in Muscle & Adipose Tissue
- Appetite Regulation & Weight Loss
- Molecular Mechanisms of Cardiovascular Complications to Diabetes
Together with senior scientists, specialists from the industry, fellow researchers and clinicians, we will discuss and assess current and new knowledge within metabolism and molecular mechanisms in diabetes and its complications. During the three-day course, time is set aside to network in an informal and relaxed setting near the sea.
Who can attend: The course is intended PhD candidates in molecular metabolism, diabetes, endocrinology and cardiology, as a postgraduate segment towards their PhD.
