Research on Leopard Geckos Can Expand Our Current Understanding of Heart Regeneration

In a recent project, Catherine Williams, Assistant Professor at the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Aarhus University, took part in a study that explored leopard geckoes’ ability to near completely regenerate the heart and restore function after a substantial injury.

In May, Filip Gnesin defended his PhD project titled: “Impact and Determinants of Prehospital Recognition of Acute Cardiovascular Disease” at the University of Copenhagen. Since medical school, Filip has been fascinated by using data to answer clinically relevant questions. Filip’s passion for medicine, statistics, and data has stayed with him throughout his research journey and as he steps into his current occupation as a junior doctor in general practice.

In February, Selma Hasific defended her PhD project at the University of Southern Denmark marking the end of being a PhD student and stepping into a new role as a full-time postdoctoral researcher. Selma’s passion for cardiovascular research already began during her bachelor’s degree and has continued to be a force of motivation throughout her research journey.
