Holiday greetings from Thomas Jespersen and the Secretariat

In keeping with tradition, I would like to send you all a holiday greeting. It is the time for reflecting on the year that passed in respect to the academy's achievements - and what a year it has been!

Looking back, it has been an eventful year for DCAcademy, and I thank every single one of you for engaging with us and our events. Altogether, more than 1500+ participants have joined our events in 2025. We have spread our activities widely across Denmark and delved into many different cardiovascular topics this year.

Some highlights are our academically rigorous Winter Meeting in Norefjell, Norway; our diverse Summer Meeting in Nyborg with a record high attendance of 240 participants; our very popular Cardiometabolic Networking Summit at Gl. Avernæs; our celebratory Ambassador Dinner on top of Maersk Tower in Copenhagen, and of course, welcoming our fifth – and last - group of grant recipients to the DCAcademy. Our grantees have been very active in 2025, and especially the Midterm Symposia have been highly successful. It is fantastic to observe the interest and support our grantees receive from the cardiovascular community.

As many of you are probably aware by now, our time as DCAcademy will come to an end ultimo 2026. This is, of course, something I am immensely sad about, but at the same time, as I write this, I feel enormous gratitude. I am grateful that we as an academy have succeeded in bringing the cardiovascular community together and that we have shown how a dedicated training and networking effort can really lift younger researchers as well as establish networks across sectors and disease entities. I sincerely hope that all the close relationships that have been created through us will continue into the future - both for the benefit of your career as well as for lifting cardiovascular treatment and prevention to an even higher level.

I am also delighted to announce that we will continue to be going strong with events in 2026. I therefore encourage you to stay updated on our website and social media channels for upcoming courses and registrations. There is truly something to look forward to. Over the next year, we plan to embrace more than just the classic cardiovascular topics; as we would like to delve deeper into cardiovascular sex differences, climate challenges, and geographical inequalities – both nationally and internationally.

I really hope to see most of you to one or more of our 2026-events as we aim to celebrate yet another fantastic year within the cardiovascular community in Denmark.

With wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,
Prof. Thomas Jespersen
