Aim of the symposium

The aim is to gather insights from various stakeholders to understand the challenges and advancements in drug safety and personalized medicine in cardiology. This symposium serves as a platform for connecting with leading experts, clinicians, and industry professionals, fostering engaging discussions on genetics, innovation, and patient-centered care.

Recommended participants

The symposium is aimed at researchers and professionals interested in personalized medicine in cardiology, drug safety, and targeted therapies. It is part of the PhD course on "Personalised Medicine and Targeted Therapies" offered by the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, but anyone interested can register for this specific event.

Learning outcome

We will explore a variety of topics, including:

  • Historical Insights: Discover the journey from the initial cases of drug-induced QT prolongation to the present-day safety guidelines and ongoing research.
  • Clinical Challenges: Examine how drug-induced arrhythmias influence clinical practice and identify gaps in knowledge.
  • Industry Perspectives: Understand the impact of FDA and EMA guidelines on drug development and the significance of comprehensive risk evaluation.
  • Patient Voices: Hear about the concerns regarding severe cardiac risks and the potential of genetic markers.
  • Societal Dynamics: Discuss the importance of fostering communication between stakeholders as we navigate the complexities of health care today.

Confirmed speakers
