Between Day 1 and Day 2, participants are expected to prepare questions related to their own thesis for use in a Question-Answer session on the second course day.

Aim
The overall aim is to give participants confidence to respond fluently and appropriately to the examiners’ questions.
Specific aims are to enable participants to:
- Have insight into what questions will be asked
- Be prepared to deal with potentially problematic areas
- Effectively use discussion skills to elaborate the dialogue with the examiners
- Clearly describe their contribution to the research area
- Consider all aspects that could influence the Defence delivery and performance
Teaching form
Face-to-face classroom tuition and intensive question-and-answer group practice culminating in participants responding to questions related to their PhD thesis posed by “mock” examiners.
Participants
PhD students nearing their PhD defence with Results/Findings to present, discuss and defend. The course is also useful for those about to write their thesis.
