Curious about a career in life science but unsure of your possibilities? Join the three academies (Danish Diabetes and Endocrine Academy, Danish Cardiovascular Academy and Neuroscience Academy Denmark) on 21st of November, 2024 from 10.00 – 15.00, as we prepare you for the annual Synapse career fair. Through two parallel workshops, we will focus in on key skills for your career development, after which participants will gather to gain insight into a range of different career paths within life science with ample opportunity for questions. You will then have the opportunity to directly apply these learnings at the Synapse career fair in the afternoon.

Programme Overview:

10:00 – 11.30: Two concurrent workshops

A:  Workshop on Networking:
Facilitated by Anders Høeg Lammers, Videnskab.dk 

In this interactive, hands-on workshop, you will gain valuable insights and practical tools for engaging with companies effectively. You will learn to:

• Develop strategies to effectively target and approach companies.
• Ask the right questions and position yourself as a desirable candidate.
• Gain confidence in delivering concise, persuasive pitches.
• Practice and enhance your communication skills through real-time feedback.

By the end of the workshop, you will leave equipped with the tools to make meaningful connections and present yourself as a candidate companies are eager to collaborate with.

B:  Landing Your First Job in Denmark – outside academia
Facilitated by WorkInDenmark, recruitment consultants Rem Sahid Mahamoud and Sofie Andersen Ejdesgaard
Primarily targeted towards international students

Join this workshop to learn how to effectively navigate your job search in Denmark. Get practical tips and strategies to locate job possibilities outside academia and get an insight into the unwritten rules of job seeking in Denmark. You might be wondering:

• What are the possibilities in the Danish Life Science sector?
• Where can I find the jobs?
• What do Danish recruiters expect when I apply for a job?
• What are the unwritten rules of a job interview in a Danish context?

These questions, and more, will be addressed during the workshop. You will gain valuable insights into navigating jobseeking outside academia, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to Workindenmark’ s recruitment consultants.
