Holiday Greetings from the DCAcademy 2024

DCAcademy’s fourth year is coming to an end. Looking back, it has been a great year and we thank every one of you for engaging with us and our events.

Another year is soon coming to an end. Looking back, it has been a great year for DCAcademy, and we thank every one of you for engaging with us and our events. Altogether, more than 1000 participants joined our events in 2024. Some highlights from this year were our academically rigorous Winter Meeting in Norefjell, Norway; our popular Summer Meeting in Nyborg with more than 180 participants; our well attended Cardiometabolic Summit at Gl. Avernæs; and welcoming our fourth group of grant recipients to the DCAcademy. A fifth call was announced in October and we look forward to receiving applications before the deadline on 21 February 2025. Our current grantees have been very active in 2024, and especially the MidTerm Symposia have been very successful. It is fantastic to see the interest and support our grantees receive from the cardiovascular community.

In the rest of this newsletter, you will find an invitation to the DCAcademy Winter Meeting 2025 and some collected highlights from this fall/winter.

DCAcademy Winter Meeting 2025

Our winter meeting next year will once again be at the fantastic destination Norefjell in Norway. We will be doing academic sessions on the way to Norway, starting with a keynote speech from Prof. Bente Klarlund. We have a fantastic programme planned for the meeting with sessions on: Atrial fibrillation, thermal stress in a changing climate, and the future of animal research. You can sign up for the meeting here.

Ambassador Dinner 2024

Once again, we hosted our Ambassador Dinner in November. Thank you to everyone who showed up for a festive evening where we celebrated our grant recipients and their many insightful contributions to the cardiovascular field. The Ambassador Dinner is a great opportunity for our grant recipients to meet across the calls and establish meaningful connections. You can read about the evening here.

Internationalisation Programmes

We are very pleased that the DCAcademy Internationalisation Programme got off to a great start in 2024. As a part of a pilot-project, two different research groups applied for grants and went on ‘scientific exchange’. They reported back that new collaborations and connections had been established as a direct result of the Internationalisation Programme. It is my hope that even more research groups can go abroad in 2025. Main supervisors from Danish research groups who want to go abroad with young scientists from their group can apply for the internationalisation grant here.

Course on Sex Specific Aspects in Cardiometabolic Research

We are very excited for this course and the associated Novo-Nordisk Foundation-symposium “Bridging the Gap: Translational Approaches to Sex Differences in Cardiovascular Disease” on 20-22 of January. Together the course and the symposium will provide interesting insights and a global perspective on an important aspects of cardiovascular research. This is a course you cannot miss. You can sign up to the course here.

Greetings from the DCAcademy Secretariat

Lastly, the DCAcademy Secretariat would like to extend a huge thank you to our grant recipients, participants and collaborators in 2024.
